Can you get a better picture? I don't really thnk it's a leptastrea or pavona, looks like it's going to be in the faviidae family. Possibly favites pentagona, maybe even favites flexuosa... Hard to tell without a decent shot of the corallites :). Is that it open all the way, or is there more flesh than what we see?

OK I was off. I sent the pic to a half dozen advanced reefers I know and the majority said...

    Psammacora

I was off on this one.

I invited them to jopin 3reef but given they're on numerous forums all ready and have little time, I doubt they'll chime in.

    Google Psammacora vaughani

At first glance I thought it might be a psamma, but was not sure, I don't really think it is...... I still think it's in the faviidae family though :)

doubtful given whom I asked :)

Why do you think it's a Favidae? What characteristics are you picking out. How are you ID'ing it? Just by sight or do you have stuff to reference it off of...besides google searches?

Jeez, no need to be so mean about it :( I don't really care what type of coral it is, was just having some fun guessing what it looks like to me, I'm no expert, and don't claim to be one. So I will leave it to you and your team of expert's to ID things from now on...:-/ Sorry I offended you or whatever I did, it was not my intention.

I'm being mean? Sorry that was not my intention and I surely didn't mean to :( I was curious as to why you thought that and was just looking for some details on how you arrived at that. Again, I truly am sorry if that is how I cam across :)

After looking in The modern coral reef aquarium by fossa and nilsen, now im leaning more towards Coscinaraea, it looks identical to the picture in the book, same yellow color too

I know it's not psammacora, i have 6 different varietys in my tank (big psamm fan), but i do think it is Coscinaraea, which btw is in the psammacora family so you are pretty close on the id

aww crud... I feel bad now. Gresham, the worst thing about the internet is that you can't tell a person's tone(well, usually), if that makes sense. I truly thought you were attacking me, it just seemed like it. But I am very glad you weren't :). I am sorry for the confusion, I hope we can let this one slip behind us. I've read a lot of your posts and was hurt that someone as intelligent as you would be attacking me, again I am glad you weren't :thumbs_up
