I think I see what looks to me, like a cabbage leather coral?

one thing worth considering is if that frogspawn is down flow of any leather corals
as this may account for the coral retracting

moving it so that it is in the path of flow, before that flow reaches any softies (leathers and toadies in particular) may help IMO

combined with running carbon so that when the toxins/ chemicals released by these softies disperse more in the water column, they are removed

As stated above, the tank is primarily soft and these coral have been together for maybe a year (meaning the SPS were added then). If it could take that long to affect a SPS?

IMO - yes , there is not always an immediate effect when having mixed soft corals and LPS in the same tank, and depending on flow patterns and use of carbon etc, issues can be avoided

growth can make a difference in a couple of ways IME

1 - 1 or the other or in all probabilty both are getting larger and are thus competition for space creates additional effort in the chemical warfare department

2 - growth of corals can adjust flow patterns, which again can ultimately mean that corals that where not in the direct flow of anything being released, over time due to their growth or the growth of their antagonistic neighbour find themselves in the direct line of fire

Both are valid points and something for me to consider. I am going to re-position the Frog Spawn and see if that helps.
