So i recieved my skimmer from a member on this forum. I took it apart last night, cleaned it, put it back together correctly. Before I took it apart, I plugged it in and it worked fine. Today, I went and got some PVC tubing for the "Mod" that elminates the diffuser box. I correctly did this modification exactly the way other members have.

The problem is, now the unit isnt even starting up. When I plug it in, the pump is not drawing any air or water into the main chamber......

    What is wrong?????/

    Pictures?

Can I assume that the pump is confirmed running?

The pump pushes the air and water...did you check to make sure the impeller is in there properly and the pump side of things hooked up?

If no water movement, the the problem is on the pump side. Make sure it is working properly hooked up properly, and also tilt it in the water to make sure you aren't getting a bubble in the pump.

Okay, this happend to me SO many times....

All you have to do..Is bang the pump in your palm and it will start up again..I did it while it was plugged in and outa the water(its not good to run outa the water, thats why i never unplugged it) So wants you bang it a few times softly until it starts up again, but it back in the water cover thine tube that lets out the water on the pump, connect it back to the skimmer and it should be good.

    Confused on any of that?

Ok well thanks for the help. I got it working again however because I have to move my whole display tank/stand (dont have enough room between it and the wall) so I currently have the skimmer running on a 10 gallon freshwater tank to make sure everything is working good before I take all that time to move my main SW tank and put the skimmer on it.

The current problem is that the bubbles its producing is quite large. They are not like the whitish tiny micro bubbles I have seen in pictures of these skimmers. When I put it on my saltwater display tank will the different type of water chemistry compared to freshwater create the tiny micro bubbles?

Yes, it will have micro bubbles when you have it in saltwater..

Im not sure of the reason, but i test skimmers in tap water and it dus not bubble at all barely. and it dus not have the small micro bubbles either.

The density of saltwater is much more than freshwater

whats up? I have the same skimmer. I bought my new and my tank is 3 1/2 weeks old. Where is your water level? do you keep your coralife in a sump or HOB? I still don't know how it's exactly suppose to work. ....

well depends which model you have. Mines the 65 and is setup for HOB. I also have done a few modifications to it. I am waiting on a friend to help me move my stand either tomorrow or friday and that is why the skimmer is not on the tank yet. Once i get it setup (hopefully tomorrow) i will try to upload pictures and help you out. I am so excited to get this thing up and running.
