    awesome thanks for the help. I actually took my skimmer to a local true value and tried all their fittings. None of them worked, i dont know why coral life would make these connections not perfectly 5/8". But i am currently using the 5/8" flex tubing as you mentioned. It was such a pain to do so I might try to do larger tubing and zip tie it tight. Thanks for the help, ill try the raising the skimmer method tomorrow and see what happens.

    i said clean it since u might have salt built up in the air way clogging it making the water rise sorry i was sending the first post from my android

    You know that horizontal outflow with holes in it to reduce/spread out the return of water may be causing some back pressure which could cause excessive water in the drain. If you can remove that and try a large as possible elbow and nothing else see what happens then, I have lowered the water level inside skimmers by increasing the size of outflow pipes and removing minor obstructions in the return piping. A little bit can make a difference in a stable water level which can reduce or eliminate flooding. Play with it and see. Skimmers are strange devices that respond to seemingly insignificant modifications.
