Coral? On my LR

    Hi, Im really new to all this, so just thought I would post a pic of coral type thing found on my LR.....

    not sure what it is and what it does etc etc etc... heeeeeelp ;D


    Oh and buy the way I mean the one at the back, not that sad looking coral skeleton at the front that is so sad looking. The one at the back actually moves with the currant so its a soft coral.

    It looks like a goniopora or a "flowerpot" but thats just my guess.
    How long have you had the live rock for.
    Nice find

    Alveopora (It's a type of flowerpot coral similar to a goniopora)

    cooool will have to look these up.... Anyone know a good website where I can search corals and their needs easily, Im finding it hard.

    Oh Ive had the LR for about 3 weeks, in the tank still cycling.... no signs of an ammonia spike yet.... waiting waiting waiting waiting .....

    Yea it is kind of hard to find stuff on line if you don' t know the names. I got a couple of books that got me a pretty good idea of what i was looking at, wanted. Then I found it much easier to get a lot more info on line that way. I guess for me a picture is worth a lot of web site jumping. I kind of like Aquarium Coarls by Borneman, great for id, and there is no book for general knowledge and coral care then THe Reef Aquarium vol 1 by Delbeck and Sprung

    It all depends on how much decaying waste he has on his rock and how high the Ammonia goes.
