Great find. I don't think that it will make it through the cycle because they are very sensitive but that would be cool if it did.

I have almost no ammonia... and only tiny tiny amounts of Nitrites and Nitrates. The rock is yucky atm, it has lots of fuzzy stuff coming off it and when I hit it with the vacuum cleaner syphon (as you do) the stuff comes off like dust. YUCK!
The Protein skimmer collects HEAPs of Yuck each day aswell....

I really just want to see ammonia go up!!! I did have a dead crab last week that I left- hoping this would speed up the process- :p, but took him out a few days ago.

Am I on my way to a cycled tank!!! (I am a 'she' by the way)

I think you are on your way. On my first tank after my cycle was complete all kinds of mushrooms and polyups showed up. Life has a way of hanging on so I hope your find makes it. Good luck

    Sorry about that.

But, yes you're on your way. Wait until the Ammonia is zero and your Nitrite is zero and you're good to go. A lot of people are under the belief that the stronger your Ammonia spike, the better. This is not true.

I found by using water from first tank cycle will be quicker.
