Did you light acclimate the Acan's? I.e., start them at the bottom and then slowly move them up over a couple of weeks?

Target feed the brain with a turkey baster.

You should place the acan on the sandbed for a few days and then slowly move it up to the spot you would like it to be placed. That way it is able to acclimate to the lighting. As for the brain, most people say its best to keep it on the sandbed. Maybe the brain is still acclimating to the tank and the lighting.

Leave the brain where it is....feed it.

Drop the acans....depending on how much tissue there is, maybe target feed them too.
