So gradually increasing the photoperiod every day wouldn't have the same effect? Because my plan is to do this anyway with the new lights or should I increase the photoperiod AND start them on the bottom and gradually move them up. I just want to make sre they get enough light these will be my first more difficult corals

theyd still be gettin really strong light initially , even if its a short period. id tend to start them low . hopefully others can chime and help with another opinion.

do both. the slightly longer photoperiod each day will help keep down the algae bloom you will have from so much light compared to what you did have. keep them low as they still need to aclimate to the light from the bottom. (its good to keep ANY coral at the bottom of the tank for a little while os they can get used to your light). Merry Christmas.
