Can anyone let me know if something is wrong with this coral? I got this last week and it looked like this....just wondering if the tissue is dead on it or something...or if its ok!

Should I dip it? I have this product: Brightwell Aquatics MediCoral - Coral Dip - AquaCave

You think I need to do that, will it help, or leave it alone?

    Thanks!

Nice colours, but it does look half dead. Im no expert in SPS, so i'll let someone else give you some advice!

It looks o.k. It is just adjusting to your tank. It may need stronger flow to get it to stand up although there are Finger Leathers that just act like that. Nice color by the way.

Thanks on the colors....but its actually an SPS of some kind....I think a purple birdsnest? (not sure)...but its definitly hard coral.

I may have to stand it up differently, I just mounted it on that plug yesterday!

There are definitely a lot of dead spots on it and there are some spots where algae has grown on those dead spots.

It just looks generally unhappy at the moment. The dead spots have been that way long enough to grow algae. I see no new dead spots. It should perk up in a day or two. If it does not, adjust flow/light.

What happens when it has dead spots and algae grows on it? Does it ever come back or does the whole coral die?

Can it do anything to my other corals if the whole thing dies?

Do you recommend a dip at all?

O.k. At first I thought it was an SPS (pic isn't real clear) but then the wak it looked, as if drooping I thought it was a Finger. I now would say you should re-mount it to an upright position and make sure it is in plenty of flow.

It will be ok, I see spots that it looks like it is growing. It can and will grow over the spots where the algae is especially if your CUC helps.

Use a soft toothbrush to gentley remove the algae on the dead spots!
