hi people, heres the deal. my 55 gallon 2 foot cube is up and running smoothly. the coral i have:
-kenya tree (grown alot in 2-3 months)
-duncan frag (came with 3 heads, now has 2 heads starting to split)
-green star polyps (taking over the top of my tank)
-torch (seems fine, cant tell much growth)
    -goniopora (long tentacle, seems healthy)
-small mushroom leather (no pinules showing anymore, still extends although only small, no growth shown as yet)

    corals i have lost:
-calustrae? candy cane coral frag (lost colour, died off)
-elegance coral (stopped opening up, seemed swollen, died off)

now i am not sure whether i didnt have the lighting required for elegance or not, i have a twin t5 setup with one white and one blue globe. soon i will be buying a 2ft setup with a 150w halide and 2 blue t5s but that is not for a month or more.

now i am after some suggestions on what corals to get to fill my tank out, because at the moment i have alot of spaces between corals and i want to fill it out a bit more and make it look a bit more involved (without massive overcrowding) so what would be some good corals to get which are mainly photosythetic and simple to care for but not exactly boring stuff. i do dose my tank weekly with marine snow, phyto, zooton and so on for coral food so what do you guys suggest?

Well, I think you are right about your lighiting, it's probably not enough. As for the elegance, unless it was an Australian Elegance, then it probably didn't stand much of a chance. Australian elegances are known to be much hardier than ones from the Indo Pacific. As for corals, I really frogspawn, although you already have a torch, zoas are always good and they will fill out spaces in your tank. You could also try some sort of brain coral, favia, favite or even some Acans.

well im not sure about gettin halides actually because if i do get them than ill only be gettin the cheapest of cheap off ebay or somethin haha and you get what you pay for so i might go with this t5 setup i found, it has 4x 24w t5ho lights and moon lights in a fan cooled casing..this would provied a significant increase would it not? enough to keep most corals in my 24inch deep tank.

that light would make it possible to keep most corals. you should look into zoas, mushroom, other types of leathers. after you get the new light it will open up a lot of possibilitys.
