Ok long story short - picked up a rock with Blue Xenia from the lfs - there was this green coral (closed brain????) they told me it was just the skeleton and was not alive.
I was skeptical but took there word for it (it was still green) last night took a look and it was puffed up and had feelers out all over it. So two things #1 it has a barnacle in the middle. #2 what type of coral and were to put it.

2 for the price of one ;D

with those lines on the edges it does appear to be a brain coral - and a nice live one at that.....good for you.

Favia is what the green corals looks like to me.

Cool on the new growth, LPS amaze me at what they can do regeneration wise.

And whatever type of LPS it is, I would leave it right where it is. Seems to be doing well and looks healthy.

Yep that's what it looks like
So there is a live barnacle living on the side of the coral - will this be an issue?
I have this piece of rock about 4 inches off the sand in moderate flow - my lights are 2 10k daylights and 2 antic over a 75 gal. will this be enough light?

Oh how I love this lfs - I got that rock for 25$ LOL with blue xania and the favia.

Personally I have not had problems with barnacles being present on my LPS or acroporas and I have currently 3 residing on my corals, but that is just me.

I have gotten some great deals on corals that the LFS employees did not know about. I got my Red planet for 15 bucks.

That is a Favia and a very healthy looking one to me. The barnacle will be no problem IME.
