thats just the right side of my tank.i removed the dead sps.only my red monti cap seen middle right servived.i lost a superman monti, lime green cap,pavona,hydnophora,2 echinophylia chalice,a green open brain, and some lps are half gone.i beleave there was some warfare going on because of so many different types in a fully stocked tank and to few water changes do to me no seeing the problem in time.after the corals death, the problem went away.i'm not going to replace the types that don't make it and i'm going to more than double my water changes at least for now even though all tests are reading good.oh the coral on the bottom right is 2 lavender frilly mushrooms, they are actually killing off some of the gsp that they touch but i have enough of that so i don't mind.

I can tell you that depending on the species of stony coral and certain soft corals, soft corals are very toxic and DO NOT need to be located next to a stony coral for the potent effects of the soft coral to be inflicted!!!
Strong filtration, weekly water changes and a carbon regime will help greatly to reduce this mishap from injuring or even killing certain corals.
You will also want to think about the growth and spreading of corals like zoanthids and mushrooms such as Ricordia and discosomas, as the prolific spreading and touching of certain corals will effect neighboring coral in contact with these.
Euphyllia stony corals are some of the most potent as far as stinging is concerned ansd the can develop sweeper tentacles apt to sting neighboring corals and they can even break off and travel to other parts of the tank causing injury to unlucky corals that come into contact with the tentacles(nematocysts).
The only corals that have a stronger sting than Euphyllia species are Catalophyllia and Hydnaphora.

    BE WARY!!!!!!!!
Remember that their are various ways for corals to protect themselves, ensure and carry on the species, grow and spread. Knowing the exact form and way that a particular coral achieves this will enable you to be more successful with corals in an environment filled with chemical warefare that we are often times unlikely to visualize, be aware of or conscious of.

wow thanks for all the good info guys, must be a good topic.
well if something that is visual is happening, ill know about it. nothing happens in my tank with out me knowing about it(that is visible to the human eye)im like a hawk, lol . no but i seriously spend a large amount of my day inspecting everything in my tank.(when not working). i swear hours have passed with me just sitting and watching they way things act in my tank. it helps thou cause i feel i can tell instantly when something is not right.

were can i find in depth info on individual corals?. when i google i usually get generalized info. i need some scientific material, something to rattle the brain, lol.
thanks again guys for the info, and pic!
