I assume you mean Green Star Polyps ?
in which case, no I do not think you have killed them
if you poured RO water and it came into contact with them, then it has almost certainly shocked them a bit and caused them to retract and stay out of the way until they are sure conditions are back to normal

give it a couple of days and IMHO either the colony will once again show itself all at once or possibly some polyps will venture out 1st, followed by others later until ince again fully colony is extended

^ +1 When I top off my tank I use a airstone hose, and let the water slowly go through my refuge to mix a bit before going into the DT, if you have a HOB filter you can do the same thing

You wouldn't have killed them, star poylps are bullet proof. You could take a rock covered with them and leave them out of water for hours. They would be a little upset..but would still live.

Seems to me you just upset them. When I had Star Polyps they were the moodiest and most sensitive coral when it came to sudden salinity, pH or temperature changes. When you top off your tank with FW from evaporation it does change the salinity a bit, but in my opinion star polyps get pretty upset when one of the paremeters change faster than normal. This is one of the reasons why I got rid of mine! They were constantly in and out all the time when all other coral in my tank (even the more sensitive ones then they) are prefectly fine! I ended up trading them for a devil's hand and a kenya tree and I don't regret it! I wanted a coral that I know will be out and happy when I look at my tank. So, your star polyps are just acting like normal moody star polyps in my opinion. They will come back out in a few hours probably.
