    :confused: i know this might sound like a daft question,with me being sort of newish to marine,can you explain when you use the terms lps,sps when your talking corals:-[ and does anyone know any decent online stores where i can browse at the corals my local store never has any in,and the corals you advised me to get for my first,and easiest to care for they never have,or i could be cheeky and ask for donations,;) my zip or post code is wa1 4bh thanks very,very much pete

    It is a dry heat, yeah right !
    LPS: Large polyp stoney corals. Like ducans, acans, brains, frogspawn. They all have a stoney skeleton in common.

    SPS: Small polyp stoney corals. Montipora, acropora, pocillopora. Have the stoney skeleton as well but tiny polyps.


    Liveaquria.com has some great stuff to looks at just go to the diversden section or the appropriate corals section.

    If these are your first corals try starting with maybe a colt or a kenya tree ( soft corals ). Or some of the easier LPS like duncans and acans.

    Basically they are going to buy a coral, grow it out over months and cut/frag off new growth and sale it, regrow it out, give it away.

    Sometimes fragging maybe required to keep growth in check as well. Some corals can not touch so new growth needs to be cut back.
