    ok it did retract when i whet to turn on the lights but when i went back out it was out?

    Very interesting Hank. I am still thinking feather duster by the looks.

    If it retracts then I would assume feather duster.

    I would guess feather duster as well. I've seen them similar to that before. That one just happens to be holding a strange position.

    I don't recognize it either - kinda looks like a medusa stage of some type of jellyfish??? IMO, this is the best part, figuring these things out.

    Definitely not a hydroid jelly...had a few of those over the years.
    Let me see if I can dig up an old pic of a similar duster.

    Best one I could find. It looked very similar to what you have.
