I recently, bought a used coralife superskimmer 220, and I'm wondering where I should put the level at, for optimum skimming. I tried a wet skim, but it started to skim a little too light, so, I brought the level of the bubbles down some. Now, it barely skims anything. Is halfway up the cup about right or should it be lower/ higher? I mean, when you first adjust it, before foam starts to form, and it's just wet bubbles, in the neck. I have it as a hob, not in a sump. Any advice on this skimmer would be helpful. Also, if anyone knows how to set up the bubble trap or overflow, whatever it is, I could use some pictures of that, as well. I think, I'm missing pieces of that portion. Skimmer is set up, and seems to be broken in. I'm just not sure if it's set for maximum skimming. I've had it for 3 weeks or so. Thanks, in advance.

I used to run mine right at the bottom of the cup, and it did "okay". I hate to tell you, but for the couple of years I had mine, it was constant trouble. I finally replaced it with a reef octopus and my reefing life is so much better. I was constantly having to adjust the coralife skimmer, and had tons and tons of problems with the air intake clogging up.

Dang it. I was hoping it would be a better skimmer, than that. Well, the bright side is, it was used, so, not too expensive. It's still got to be better than my two odyssea skimmers.::) Any advice on how to lessen the headaches? I can't afford to switch to an octopus, quite yet. Maybe farther down the road, but I'm, kind of broke, right now. Just bought another used asm g2, and new skimmer pump, the 220, and led lights, so, for now, I'm strapped. Did you use a drill bit, to clean out the venturi, once a month? I have to do that, with my g2's, and they're supposed to be okay skimmers.
