WHat is the recommended water level in the sump for this skimmer?

IIRC, Coralife recommends the pump be no more than either 4 or 6 inches below the water (can't remember, exactly - whatever depth it stops sucking in air). AFAIK, there is no suggested level so long as that condition is met. Could be wrong though, its been a while since I had mine.

Thanks for info. His sump level where the skimmer is appears to be much higher than that. That may be the problem here. That is what I was thinking anyway.

Okay...it's me again, can anyone tell me what happened to this skimmer? It's been like this for 24+ hrs, even before or after cleaned. Tank readings are usual.

You cleaned it and it works better? I was going to say I think its to clean, surely in that pic looks not to be making skimmate, I have noticed with mine after a good cleaning it does not skim as good and the dirtier that thing is the better it works, crazy huh!!!

You need to take your pump apart and check that pinwheel impeller and see if there is an issue in there, your bubbles are way to big.

It may also be the air intake. The cone that attaches to the pump make sure it's very secure and free of debris. I had a similar problem and had to clean my cone and drill a little bit bigger hole in my silencer. Other than that I kinda like my skimmer

It's 48 hours of no skimmate, 24hours before cleaning and 24hours after cleaning...I am worried, the new skimmer and RO/DI system won't be here until Monday:-/
