My Coralife 220 works quite well.....no whistling. It is tempermental when it comes to water level though but I adjust for it. It's a great skimmer and would recommend it with no hesitation.

I love mine, for the price you can's do better IMO. Like Sssnake said, it can be touchy to water levels. If you choose to make it a HOB make sure there is some sort of collection cup in case of a overflow. If you have it in a sump, no worries ;)

ok, i've got a question... does the powerhead for your coralife have some way to mount up? mine just hangs from the rubber tube going up onto the skimmer itself... (not to the air muffler thing, but the bigger rubber tube)... maybe that's why i hate mine so much... it seems like it SHOULD mount by suction cups onto the glass... but i didn't notice anything that would work, not even in the instruction book.... so does everyone else's powehead just hang loosely in the tank?

Yup....it just hangs. No suction cups required. The motor is quite heavy for suction cups anyway.

well in that case, it just seems like poor quality build on coralife's part...just my opinion.. i knew i should have waited before buying this one... i mean, the powerhead just hangs there, plus, if you have a problem with it, its hard to find replacement parts... i'm definately changing to something else... but good luck to the rest of ya!
