I have been out of town since August (minus a few weekends) and have had my roommate take care of my tank...he decided he was moving up to Illinois on fairly short notice and left about a week ago so I am having the LFS owner come by a few times a week to feed and whatnot..Of course as SOOON as someone isn't there all the time my timer on my coralife power strip dies. It thinks it is nighttime all the time. Long story short..had to explain to him how to completely redo my plug/outlet configuration to get it to work when i'm 500 miles away so my halides would come on/off.

    SO!

Anyone have any suggestions on another all-in-one timer/powerstrip that ISN'T a coralife? I have searched around but all I can find are wavemakers and reptile coralifes (asssuming it's the same thing as the one I already have..). Would a wavemaker work? Dumb question? Any suggestions appreciated..

    Thanks,
    Ivan

next step up s a controller. One of the reasons I got a controller cause I was sick of cheap timers. plus thees no sense of security with those timers.

Look into aqua controller jr. good bang for the buck. will provide much more than being a solid "timer".

The ACjr is probably your best buy. You can use outdoor light timers that are relatively cheap and dependable, but they don't have more than say 2 outlets.

For now I use the outdoor light timers.

I just got a reefkeeper lite level 1 and it is perfect. It also lets MH cool down before trying to restart them after a power failure. Either that or you could just get a normal powerstrip and home light timers from the hardware store.

I think i'm sold on the reefkeeper. I don't really need some of the stuff on the aquacontroller aaannd its around half the price
