Thinking of using this skimmer in a 40g breeder tank, would like feed back from those that know how effective this skimmer is.
    Thanks.

I used this skimmer and loved it. It's not gonna skim like a $500 skimmer, but it works great and I had no complaints.

I was advised when the thought first came to mind on a reef to use a seaclone for the 40G, but I read some post in here about it and them gave it a 2nd thought, then came across this one. the worst thing I read about it on the site review was that it tends to overflow, not sure what that means.

Well, if you're coming from a sea clone, it may seem that it skims like a $500 skimmer. If you've ever used a $200-$300 Reef Octopus, Eshops, Vertex, SWC etc... then it will seem like a $25 skimmer. I tried one years ago and it was junk compared to decent skimmers I've used. Not much skimmate, tough to dial in. Poor design, always had problems with it overflowing, due to salt creep in the air intake. Cheap pumps, went through a few. I'm sure I'm forgetting something, but the point is it's all relative. There are certainly worse skimmers, but there are also, much, much better skimmers.

I agree totally here, I was just saying if you are looking for a budget skimmer it works good. I run an SWC now on my new tank and it does work better, but I have had many more problems with it than the SS. But now that the kinks are worked out, if you can afford it, I'd go with a higher end skimmer.

I sell you my old SS65 for $20 plus shipping. I was going to use it for a sump on my 46 and never got around to it.

I love these skimmers. I've had no issues and I know many people that use them as well and like them. One thing I always do is change the drain to 3/4" PVC so that it can't clog. Although I have agree that there are other better skimmers but for around 100 it's superior to the sea clone and most other skimmers for that price.
