I got the CoraLife Super Skimmer 125 used from here and it was great for a few days but this morn I feed the filterfeeders and left it down for a couple hours and let the food get curculated real good and when I turned it back on it was just running clean water into the collection cup. I have about a 1/4 of a cup of clean water no skimmate. What would be going on here? I am running a dry skim. It seems to have slowed down a bunch but still I would like to know more about this contraption. than the book tell's...Any one have any idea's, or ever used one of these? Thank

I have two of the same skimmers and they have worked great for me for the past few years. When you shut off the skimmer the water level in the tank rises. So when you start back up the skimmer is in deeper water and throws off your adjustment a little bit. It takes a minute to readjust itself after the skimmer gets back up to its full running ability. You have a nipple on the bottom of the cup that you can attach a hose to. Get an old milk jug and put a hole in the cap and run a hose to it and it will help you run faster and protect you from overflows. These skimmers are known for overflowing, so becareful it wont flood onto any wires.

Thanks Bob, I have an overflow but did'nt put it on, I assumed it was for lazy people that did'nt want to get up and empty the cup. I will get another trash can and set next to the stand and run the over flow in it. Is it possible to put a pop off type valve on it so that it will work in the cup except on the occasion I might be out and when the cup get close to full it switches over to the overflow. Just a idea, I will look into it but really do not see it happening....thanks again Bob.....

Most people use the jugs cause of the smell. I dont know if you could put a valve on, I dont think its worth all that. I just find that it skims better when it runs heavier and closer to the rim. But w/o the overflow jug the cup would fill up soon. Thats how I run it. Plus I dont use the p.o.s. bubble difuser, I just let the water flow out and I turn the tube towards my sock and let that absorb my bubbles.

i never had problems with mine when i had it. never had it overflow on me but i always would readjust it when i turned it back on. i never turned it off when feeding either. try feeding a little bit at a time so fish go after the flakes. that also a good habit to prevent excess food form getting traped on the bottom of the tank

I was dosing with phyto not fish food. So I always turn everything off except the powerheads and let it get all throughout the tank. least thats what I was told to do....How did you or do you run the silencer? I also use the gray bubble diffuser box along with two pads on bottom and the black sponge pad and a sock. If not it looks like the reaction chamber in the DT with all the bubbles. How long does it take before the micro-bubbles stop coming back in through the return line. It took my Jebo about three weeks then there were no bubbles and it was good for a while, then it took a poop...Well fill me in thanks for your time ,,,....

if its a used one probably a week, new i dont know. but after it breaks in you can just use a filter sock and that will prevent all microbubbles.

with phyto i dont turn anything off either. some times i might spot feed a coral or two, but other then that nothing. unless your running a huge skimmer is shouldnt make that much of a difference, if you dose it regularly that is.

I do the same, I leave the skimmer run while I dose phyto, I usually dose a few drops a day before my mh comes on and a few drops when the mh goes off. I use a sock for my main filter so I point the tube towards the sock to absorb the bubbles. Whats the silencer?

I dose every other day and will always shut down my skimmer and my powerfilter and let the powerhead run for a couple hours, I know that sounds to much but I feel comfy with that idea so I will stick to my guns dunno why, How about the silencer did you by pass it. the first two days I had a line coming from the skimmer pump to the silencer and another line from the other port on the silencer with a gang valve type deal on it. I worked great but quit working like that so I took the other line off and it kicked back in. It was a better deal to have two ways of control since it seems to be a hard skimmer to get set right. now I only have one way to control it. It will take time I will figure it out...I talk to much huh..........Thanks for your time Bud and no fish so not alot to skim
