Hey guys, so I got rid of the seaclone 100 and got me a Coralife super skimmer(65Gal.), now, I have it hanging on the side of tank, I just installed it today, according to the manufacturer, it will take up to 72 hrs. for the unit to break in...Now, I have been reading some of your posts about ways to get rid of the difuser box or replace the sponge that comes with the unit. Where can I buy a better sponge and/or what other tips do you guys have for me regarding this unit.

At the moment, the skimmer is dumping an EXCESSIVE amount of microbubbles back into the tank, is this normal during the break-in period? and if not, please advice on what to do.

My tank's still cycling...I have one damsel in the tank, can the bubbles harm it?...I'm kinda running out of options here. Thanks for the help.

    Hi,
I have the CoraLife 125gal Super Skimmer.
I never had much success with it as a HOT unit. It works great in a sump. Microbubbles are the big problem. I tried all sorts of different filter pads and although I did reduce the bubbles considerably I was never satisfied with it. I now have it in my sump and it is great. I know that shortening the ouput tube helps, making sure the pump is not too deep and yes you need to let it run for 72 hours before you can really tell how it's going to run. As far as I know the microbubbles are OK in the short term but not good for too long.
I also found that the CoraLife tech is very good at responding to emails info@esuweb.com

you don't need a new sponge just put a t-junction on instead of the 90 elbow and cut a slotted down pipe. search for the coralife skimmers i just posted some pics not to long ago

I called Coralife because I had some bubbles leaking from the pump housing but the o-ring was still good and when I took it apart the ceramic shaft broke in half. Called them up and there sending me the entire pump unit. It sounded amazing on the phone, didn't even ask for a receipt, thats amazing service, Hopefully I'll be just as amazed when I get it in the mail.
