I upgrade my existing skimmer to the coralife 125. Yesterday was the first day. Within a few hours I had tinted water and by morning time I had 500ml of dark tea water. When I looked at it in the morning the foam had dropped much lower and water level was still the same.

I know I am in the break in period but this is unusual. Nothing has changed.

My bio load is huge and I stopped skimming 2 weeks ago. It seems there is no skimming happening at all?

I cleaned it out with vinegar and water. did not touch anything in the collection cup.

    What gives?

Ya tons.... this morning some foam has reappeared. I know skimmer will skim better overnight when lights are out but why so little during day?

Day 3... works at night during the day no foam head.

Planning to do a water change today. Wet skim style.

I would give it a few days and quit messing with it. Most likely the skimmate will be very wet after the water change.

Also, contratry to what you'd expect, heavy bio-loaded tanks, that were previously under skimmed will have a wet skimmate until the skimmer cleans up the tank. Cleaner tanks have thicker, nastier skimmates.

    Happy skimming!

Day 4.... I can begin to see the "break in" taking place.

Bubble initially were all over the place and comming in to main tank (corrected by filter sock)

Now I am still getting bubbles but in the chamber they seem to be more controlled and higher then lower. Some foam head is appearing and I have collected another 1/2cup of wet skim. A very light tea color.

the SS125 is very picking as to where it likes to run....and the water level has to be just right...the depth of the pump that is .....I like mine ...but its picky!! just tapping the volume knob...and it will go from wet to dry in a heart beat !

Just make sure the pump depth is within parameters ! or it will do nothing but look cool!
