I just bought one...the 65 gal skimmer. I hooked it up in the sump according to directions. I turned it on and all seems to be going ok cept that was yesterday, and today...I am seeing some bubles forming but not enough to start going into the collection cup. The directions saif it needs a break in period...Is this whats happening to mine? I have the pump valve wide open, and the output wide open. Any help would be appreciated!

Give it a day or two it needs to build up some crude in the tube to get it going.

If its new then the neck of the skimmer will need to "season" before you will get skim in the cup.. its normal and should take a week or two to break in.

As far as where your water level is. This is a great debate on whether to skim "dry" or "wet" the higher the water level, the "wetter" the skim, but it depends on your bioload and personal preference.

i'm betting it's to hold the skimmer in place bracing it against the wall, a great DIY project that needs to be detailed!

seriously though the external mounting brackets leave a bit to be desired, hence why my superskimmer 125 is in the sump :)
