I had to glue the plastic part of the impellor to the magnet. I noticed that when I cleaned the pump the impellor was coming loose. It seems that the plastic strips itself loose and wont hold the magnet. I glued it and it worked quite a bit better.

How does this skimmer compare to the Current USA Fission Recirculating Protein Skimmer? I'm looking to get one for my 60g tank in-sump.

I tried glueing the plastic impeller to the magnet as reefer bob said he did, and it completely killed my skimmer. The crazy thing wouldnt even pump water. Maybe I did it wrong. I had to chip all the glue off and free up the impeller and it works again......kind of. I think I may just have to bite the bullet and buy the ASM G1 skimmer or something similar.

what did you do? If you have to chip off glue, than you probably put to much on it. LOL, I use a super glue, so it doesnt reguire much, I pulled the prop off and put the glue on the magnet and in the prop so no glue is on the outside of prop.

There was no glue that would get hung up on anything. The prop was not allowed to spin a little like it used to. As soon as I chipped the glue off and the prop was able to spin about half way around before catching on the magnet it worked fine when put back together. i dont know, with all the problems I am having right now in my life my protein skimmer is actually the least of my worries. I am about ready to strip the power cord plug it in and jump in the bathtub, full of water of course.
