I got excited when i saw this, the pics make it look way darker than it is. I heard coraline algae is lime green before it turns purple. (In normal lighting this is lime green. On the top of rock and on old live rock. (Middle rock)

I've never heard that before... that "green coralline" turns purple. I just always thought that there were different kinds of coralline algae... I have greyish green, purple, pink, red, and florescent orange types of coralline growing in my tank. I have never seen it change color, but it does seem that the purple stuff grows over all the other colors, so it becomes the most abundant.

gabba, I understand it to be the same way too. The green grows fastest, but the purple out-competes the green in the long term.

Yes I agree. There are many types of coraline with the most wanted being the purple type. I do not believe the coralline changes color.

I was actually about to post this when I seen this thread, woke up and checked my tank and there was red and lime green algae all over mostly on my live rock. Maybe someone can confirm its the same as above?

The red looks like cyano to me. Coralline is a slow growing encrusting algae. It will start as a spec and cover rock over time, you won't see a rock covered overnight.
