I changed bulbs that I'm sure are putting in a lot more PAR and whiter spectrum. Maybe I didn't reduce the light schedule enough. Corals seem ok but a lot of my coraline is turning white.
Mag, Ca, alk all normal...except my alk got down to 6.
Any thoughts. It doesn't really bother me that it's dying just don't want the corals to follow.

Well expect some coraline to die off even if you acclimate it since it has a preference to light.

IME coraline doesn't like bright lite. When my tank was lit by PCs the back of my tank was completely encrusted by it. It started diminishing when I upgraded to T5s a year ago. I barely have any left on the back glass. Still grows in the darker areas of the tank. Corals are growing fine.

I think you should reduce your light schedule and slowly work it back up to where you want it over the course of two weeks.

I have noticed this myself..... Ive been scratching my head why the lower darker corners of my tank are encrusted and Im not getting much elsewhere. Kind of bothersome cause I Have coral growth. rocks are covered.

So what is the recommended lighting schedule for coraline growth and adequate for corals? My fixture has 3x54 Watt 10K Daylight + 3x54 Watt 460nm Actinic. It is wired with the 3 daylights and 1 actinic on one switch and the other 2 actinics on the other.

What should the schedule be for each?

    Thanks
    M

I wouldn't change my lighting schedule to favor it. It seems to get a start better in lower/bluer light. Over time it seems to grow closer to brighter light. In my case I think the new lights and change to lower Kelvin killed it.

Yup, sounds like you light shocked it. I wouldn't worry about it too much though, it should rebound with time. :)

I think it will rebound. When I introduced some live rock covered in coraline into my tank it bleached white and then came back fully in like a week or so.
