Mine is not growing "Dense" enough. It seems to be a light film over everything that has light hitting it.

Is this common before you start getting the circle patch look as I call it?

    Tank was setup in November.

I've never seen the Coraline grow in a "light film".

The LR I put in my tank was covered in coraline. I saw the first small speck of it after about a month. After two months I had several small pieces of it on my heater.

Coraline seems to do best under dimmer lighting. It really loved my PC lighting. Now that I switched to T5s it is fading in color and I'm losing some. I added dome more base rock in my tank a few months ago and I don't see any on this new rock yet.

Give it time. Also make sure your calcium levels are good. Should be between 400 and 500 ppm.

well that is what is it, little specks everywhere. I have 3 rocks that have very good growth on them but my base rock seems to be taking forever.

my new tank has been setup since November and not a single spec of coraline and I'm happy about it

All you can do if you want it, keep your calc, alk, mg in check and seed it, trust me it'll grow to plague levels quickly if you just do that

Wow that is opposite of my experience, interesting. I had my 20G tank under a 65W CF and had no coralline growth, in fact most died off and bleached. When I switched to my 70W HQI, it has come back with steady growth and most of my rock is purple and pink. Even my new LR that was completely bleached coralline is showing regrowth of pink after 3 weeks. Goes to show that this hobby doesn't go by any set rules of how to do things and each tank personality is unique. :)

Once it starts to grow it's hard to stop, I scrape it off consistently and and just keeps coming back, looks nice though if I could just get it to stop growing on the front glass....

One thing I can't figure out though is that I also have tons of it in my fuge, and that tank only has a 12w incandescent bulb on it to grow cheto?
