Anyone had any issues with a corallife 300 cone skimmer ?
Works really well and makes decent skim for about 2 days, then just flows water through the cup, won't adjust the water height and makes no difference adjusting the 2 air screws ?
I have the recept still so am more than happy to return it, I just don't see how it can be a mechanical fault, the pump is going, bubbles are there, it just goes crazy ?
Been in the tank running for about 10 weeks, I thought initially that there wasn't enough bio load to keep it skimming ? Is that possible ?
Looking for some words of wisdom, I took it to pieces last week and cleaned it 100% thinking maybe it was dirty ?
    I only have 8 fish
And about 400lbs of live rock and sand

I would. You are much better off with an SC for the money.

8 fish is alot. You should be seeing fairly decent skimmate depending on your feeding maintenance habits.

I do get a great deal of dirty looking thick foam, for about 2 or 3 days, then it just flows out of control water which in turn ends up in the sump, and because I am not here all the time, I end up with a compartment full of "gunk" which in turn makes a god awful mess.

Wow! And I thought my old SeaClown was hard to keep adjusted...

Agree with Vinny- With 8 fish, you should get constant, consistent skimmate. You should definitely trade it for a better skimmer.

I would take it back - I hate to sound harsh, but Coralife makes a bunch of Crap. I have wasted more money on their stuff then I care to admit. I'd take it back and get something else. Look at one of the less expesnive reef octopus skimmers. They cost a bit more, but once you get one you will never look back.
