Get it while it's new. It gets harder the longer it is allowed to grow. Hopefully my new setup will be coralline free forever. Flat base rock and none on frags if I can help it. I hate that stuff.

    +1... same here.

I personally consider coralline as another nuisance algae. It competes with stony corals for calcium, prefers to grow on glass first, then plastic, and rocks as a last resort, it's hard as h___ to remove, and it serves no useful purpose except to feed coralline grazers which usually also serve no useful purpose.

Even thought it may be a nuisance for some, its a tell tale sign that your water parameters and lighting are correct for the most part.

This is going to be nearly impossible to keep coraline out of your tank. One little spore can start it. Odds are one frag you put in is going to have some kind of coraline on it.

Warning! The metal scrapper on this product scratched up my glass pretty good. It may have been a defect or maybe I hit the scrapper on something to bend or distort it but either way it got me good. However, the rake attachment is really my go-to tool for a lot of things. +1

These mag floats seem to be a staple of the aquarium hobby but I've never been able to keep sand from getting between the scrubber and the glass, which of course scratches my glass. It also seemed to break up the silicone in the corners as well. My old FW tank looked absolutely horrible by the time that mag float was done with it. I always seem them in pictures posted here and I'm thinking "get that thing out of there!". ;D

Yeah. That's why I'm going to be avoiding coral for a while. New setup is going to be pure macroalgae so I'm hoping that the macro itself won't harbor any spores. Perhaps I'll have to find some unwanted asterinas just in case haha.

Eventually I want to have some mushrooms in there, but that will be a long way off.
