If im correct coraline actually grows better without lights. But it depends. I think there is certain types or different kind of pigments that grow better with light or other pigments that grow better without strong light.

Needs lighting! The color, and style and growth rate is dictated by how much or lack of light you have as well as water movement and calcium and strontium levels!

Thats what i thought.Certain pigments like bright purple grow better with light. Thats true the calcium, alkalinity and magnesium will affect growth also.

    So guys,

Your saying that it doesn't need lights to grow but to get certain types of colors and pigments it would need lights correct?

We'll you wont get coralline algae without light, you have to have some. Coralline algae growth is based on light and water flow! Coralline algae comes in green, pink, red, and purples!

by the way, you dont have to have much light to grow it either!! any lighting will grow it, just not as fast as the reef lights.

    Hey Birchell,

Will 80 watts of NO tubes help it grow?
