    hello all my tanks been running for about 3 months and finnaly getting some coralline specks on the back of my tank glass but i notice that some pink specks i saw yesterday turned white any ideas thanks :confused:

    What lights are you using and how long are they on. What is your Cal. and Alk. at?

    im using 2x96 watt compact 50/50 1 55 50/50 2x36 antic calcium is at 400ppm i dont have a alk tester at the moment

    often times, corraline is bleached out due to increases or decrease in temperature, aside from lighting. Best bet is to ensure that there is consistency in your paramaters, and no major fluctuation.

    That is the key in reef keeping. It doesnt really matter what your params are (to a certain extent), its the quick fluctuation between parameters that cause fish/coral/inverts to become sick or ill looking. We generally regard certain parameters as "healthy" parameters, when in reality, most living organisms can tolerate parameters that are far out of that "healthy" param range- as long as it is done slowly and with consistency. I know of one individual that kept his salinity at 1.035 for an excessive period of time, with no ill effect on the fish; only because he brought it up to it over a long period of time).

    Key point here is- keep your params consistent, and your corraline will have no problem coming back, and growing at a healthy, colorful rate.

    i need help because i got caroline algae but diatom algae is covering and killing it any idea???
