I'll have to check the local store to see if they sell it. The shipping is just as much as the box to purchase online.

Mythbusters tested the idea of a bull in a china shop... they ran around and didn't knock much of anything over. it was amazing... Not all that relevant, just thought it was interesting.

Anyway, purple up is a scam. The trick is to keeping your Mg above 1400 and your Ca around 400 or so. (that's all purple up is doing (raising Mg) in the most cost ineffective way possible.

Just FYI, coralline isn't all that beneficial and can become a bit of a nuisance. All it really does is soak up your elements so your pretty coral can't get it ;) It has some algae inhibiting effects by covering the rock... but algae can and will grow over it, so I find this "benefit" is marginal at best.

Anyway, my tank is just crazy with it (solid purple man). I added an urchin so that it would eat it (and it is, I have a thread with pics if you're interested). The urchin hasn't knocked a single thing over. The rock boring isn't huge though like those long spines...

Just my thoughts on it. Good luck.

Thanks for the input. How are you testing Magnesium?

    yip.

Specifically Salifert Mg test kit. The Red Sea one is a PITA to use in comparison.

if you wait long enough you will have all the coraline algae that you want. However, if you want to speed it up, i would seed the tank with a rock that is already covered.

or you could get scrapings from your lfs..... just turn your powerhead and filter off for half an hour when you put the scrapings in
