Anyone else get coraline growing in their skimmer? Seems like it didn't start until I started my algae turf scrubber.. I think it's gettting stray light from that.
Wondering if I should cover it up with a bag or something to keep it totally dark.

Wouldn't worry bout it, unless it is restricting flow.

Seems like mine foams better when it is clean. I may take it out clean with vinegar. Also I think I'm going to cover the skimmer with a heavy duty trash bag.

I would find some way to stop it from growing in there, block the light somehow, hang something in between the light and it or something. You're going to have to clean it eventually, why make it difficult on yourself if there's an easy way to block the light? Prevention is the best medicine IMO.

just wrap some black background around it. My LFS had a huge algae problem in their 6foot skimmer until they did that.
