Hello there I'm having some big issue with my tank, it is been running for several months now , I fought a nasty hair algae problem , after a succeed , and few months of free nuisance algae I notice the change in color of my rocks , coralline growth , finally , then updated my lighting from and old pc to a panorama led pro, now my rocks are going from light green to rusty color and an ugly dark green, my parameters are, cal 400, alk 9.6, ph 8.1 . What is happening , I don't see any coralline growing at all, my corals are doing fine.
Can anybody explain, guide me to get some nice Encrusting Coralline Algae in my rocks tank. here is a picture of what is happening green highlighted rock was getting coralline now is turning like the other rock
    Thanks

Looks like green algae growing on a rock. Not coralline either, pull the rock coralline will be hard. I had some white rocks to do the same, turned green then algae started growing on them.

FTR, coralline is fairly light-sensitive. When you upgraded your lighting, you bleached what was growing under the pc. It will eventually grow back, albeit possibly a different color or shade.

Mr. Bill is spot on (and has a great avatar to boot !)

I too think it will return - give it some time and don't worry about it

Well that sound really comforting , now if the coralline got bleach due to the change of light, wouldn't the rock have turn lighter instead darker?,
I thought it will be algae as salt4me mention, but is not.
    Thanks

Any ideas anybody , change of light will probably bleach the rocks make in them "lighter not darker" correct?

I beleive that elevated magnesium levels help encourage coraline algae growth.I a use Tropic Marin Bio Magnesium to reach the Mg level that I want. In addition to magnesium, it is also important to make sure that the calcium and alkalinity are all in check within the system.
