    there is no one way that rock should look. It depends on the tank conditions, lighting, lots of things. to get coraline, keep you calcium, mag, and DKH within limits, and if you have no rocks with any coraline, then maybe ask someone for some coraline scraps of their glass to jump start yours. it also depends on your lighting.

    the coraline algae is not what makes the rock live though. the bacteria that is on/in the rock is what you need
