Does anyone else have thier corals close for 24 hours after water changes?

I just did my second water change on the first to make it easy on my myself for remebering to do them.

My xenia both times has closed down for 24 hours and then opened up looking healthy agian. All other corals dont seem to mind the water changes.

My colt shrinks a lil bit - but is totally open the next day.
My Pulsing Xenia only close up when the lights are off and same with my zoa's.

Xenia is VERY sensitive to water quality changes. This could include the littlest changes in pH, temp, salinity, DOCs and clarity. I had a bio cube at work that was covered in xenia and I nuked that tank so many times from being less than diligent when doing W/Cs. It would always come back but for like 4-5 weeks it was gone. The best thing you can do is to match the water going in as close as you can with the water in the tank. Also if you pour the water in the tank with a bucket I would recommend pouring it in away from the xenia.

    Good luck and happy reefing!

Now that I think about it, I did pour over it both times. I will try just that pouring on the other side. Water has same readings on my tests I do just less Nitrates :p

Some of my xenia close up tightly for a while if anything in the tank get stirred up. Usually for only a few hours, not 24. Water isn't gettine poured on them during water changes though.

My Xenia and Zoas are used to getting walked on by my crabs (decorator especially) and only close briefly if disturbed. If I'm moving stuff around in the tank or do a water change they'll close up for a few hours then reopen.
