I recently had an incident when I went on vacation and my chiller failed. My tank was 88f when I got home. All of my sps and acans where fried, half of my Zoas died as well.

That must have happened coz of temp shock, and also if sps die, they cause tissue damage which can harm other corals maybe coz of nitrate or some chem reaction. I maybe wrong though, but for sure sps cant survive high temps.

Also, I'd like to add that if you could add an ATS= Algae Turf Scrubber-
a vertical one line like mine also sort of evaporative cools the water some as well-
especially if you put a fan on the water flowing down the sheet- you might have to them add a heater! Just my 2 cents for a possible easy way to 'cool' your tank.

If you're familiar with 'evaporative coolers'- like they use in dry areas like around Arizona- USA?
essentially it's just air blown thru a fiber sheet while water runs down it- they get COLD! in dry climates- but it'll still work some for your tank.

Just another idea that could be an way way to solve your problem, and may even get you keeping sps as well.

Reminds of a saying I try and live by:
    Great minds talk about ideas
    Average minds talk about things
Small minds talk about other people

Nice idea.... some parts of my country too use those same chillers. However, i always run a fan, even though i use chiller, as winters are just for 2 to 3mnths in my city rest of the days are crazy hot..

Right, but the ATS and a fan on it will give you more cooling potential- at almost no extra enery usage.
