    As you can see by my signature, I'm upgrading to a 55g. I have just a few things listed. I would like to have soft corals, a sponge, polyps, & anemonies. Would this light be good for these things?

    Any tips about caring for these or anything special I should know? All comments are appreciated. Thanks. :cheesy:

    One more thing. I am unfamiliar with the meaning of LPS & SPS. What are these exactly?

    The light should work fine.

    LPS = Large Polyp Stony
    SPS = Small Polyp Stony

    LPS are corals like favia, torch, chalice and open brains
    SPS are acropora, montipora and the like

    Ah, finally. Montipora is the coral I've been trying to find forever! I saw it referred to as 'plate coral',but could never find the better term for it I guess the correct term would be montipora plate coral? Are these difficult to keep?

    I do like the torch corals too.

    Monti's are fairly easy because you do not as intense light as acros and other SPS.

    I almost forgot, if you can afford it change out the stock bulbs as soon as you can for ATI, Giesemann, KZ, GE and/or UVL brand bulbs.

    About $80 to $100 plus shipping. Buy from reefgeeks they have the best service and shipping protection.

    The correct name for that particular species of Montipora you are reffering to is Montipora capricornis. Comes in a range of colours from Apple green, to orange, to purple! My favourite kind of coral :)
    Easy to keep, I would say keep them in the top part of the tank with those lights and make sure there is moderate flow around them so that no detrius settles on the corals!
