I picked up some corals and I really don't know what they are. I believe the square one with his mouth open is a Zoa. Is it normal for him to have his mouth open like that? I got them yesterday. The guy I got them from said they had some algae on them and he cleaned it off before I go there which is why they were all closed up.

What I believe to be the Zoa, does he look ok to you? His mouth was closed yesterday when I got him, my emerald crab cleaned all the algae off him last night.

Not sure what this one is, his center is bright green with the lights. I beleive his mouth is also open but it's hard to tell.

The ends of this guy were all closed but last night they started opening up.

I just want to make sure they look healthy since these are the first 3 corals I have ever purchased.

The first one seems like an LPS coral that looks a bit stressed.

The second is a Zoa (Maybe an LPS? Can you get a better pic?) of some sort, but there's no definite way to name it, so I wouldn't worry about a specific name.

The third frag is a frag of Clove Polyps.

Just see how they do in the next day or so and post here to let us know.

It is a dry heat, yeah right !
    1. Looks like a Favia, could be another LPS like Acans. Hard to tell when acclimating.
    2. Zoanthid or Palys.
    3. Is a Tubipora musica aka Pipe Organ coral.

Sweet Thanks!! I moved the first one half under a ledge of a rock. Not sure if the light was too much or not. I did see something brownish coming out of his mouth, until I moved him. He closed his mouth when I moved him.

Well I figured out what the corals are now. The first is an Acan. He is still not looking too healthy. I moved him to a lower light area today. I am hoping it works better.

The second is a Blasto. It looks like it is growing already. He is always open while the lights are on. I hand fed him a mysis shrimp today. He has been chewing on it for awhile now.

Corailline, you were dead on on the last one. From what I read they prefer more light so I moved it to a higher light area today.

I am hoping they all do well. On a side note the RBTA I put in last week is also looking great.

    Thanks again for the help.

My favia does well in just about any light and seems to be really good in his current spot which is the highest par area of my sandbed blasto do well in a little lower flow area so they can eat freely from the water column. Nice pickups.
