Of the twenty or so frags in my 25 gallon aquarium, I got 3 of them not coming out or they extend their polyps but the stalk is all like compressed or shrivelled.

My goniopora is not coming out, my toadstool mushroom and pulsing xenia have compressed themselves. Everything else like my other mushroom, zoas have all came out.

My water parameters are near perfect with ammonia, nitrite being 0 ppm, nitrate says 0 ppm but I doubt that, calcium is 430 ppm, but my alk is 12 dKh but I don't think that is the problem. My salinity is also 1.028 but I have been making an effort recently trying to make it go down 0.001 every water change.

My lighting is about 3.85 wpg, but 2 bulbs (10000k and actinic) of my 4 bulb fixture are more than 6 months old, however I did buy online some nice geismann bulbs to replace that.

So what is my problem, I am pretty confuse :S any advice would be appreciated :)

Well the Goni is a write off from the start. It really should not be collected or sold as its like carnation coral - near impossible to keep in captivity.

Regarding the other two... well, Xenia often thrives in waters with nitrates as does most softies. The toadstool could just be sloughing.

    Do you run carbon?

with the information given 1 possibility instantly come to mind
presence of substances in the water that are making some corals reluctant to show
(chemicals released by other corals )

are you running carbon in your system?

Gonipora corals are not easy species to maintain for long periods , and Xenia species are fickle to say the least (great for some , but terrible for others)

but the toadstool shroom should be an easy coral to cater for - whats your flow like? as these leather species do appreciate reasonable flow IME

a bit more information about your system would be helpful
a picture can often lead to identification of a problem, of location in terms of other corals (warfare) or relationship to flow

The placement of your coral can have an effect on them or anyother coral for that matter.
    What is your water temperature?
How much water flow do you have? Very important!
How long have you had these corals?
    Do you dose iodine?
What is the frequency of water changes?
These questions can offer us more info to come up with a proper solution.

yes i do run carbon. i know i shouldnt have bought the goni but the guy i bought it off had a frag tank full of them and he said they have been multiplying in his aquarium so I thought maybe these guys were conditioned enough to be kept in a tank

i got for waterflow 295 gph plus my AC 110 which adds more to my 25 gallon aquarium. My water temperature is 25 degress celsius which is i think 78 farenheit. I just got these corals except the mushroom which i had for a month. i do not dose with iodine and i do a 10-25% water change every week.
