At least they won't be wiped out by the ever-present ice-age scientists foretold in the 70's

hmm one hot, one cold maybe they will work together and the ocean will stay the same, wishful thinking

haha i could go on and on about what a LOC global warming is but dont want this thread getting too political and getting closed.

however, there are alot of other factors we can help reduce such as pollution, that also majorly affects coral reefs. probably more so than the supposed global warming.

That was based off of a 2-million year long glacial-interglacial trend known as the Pleistocene Glaciation Cycle, which was a result of what is known as Milankovitch Cycles (changes in Earth's orbital pattern). For nearly 2 million years, Earth went through predictable 100,000 year glacial-interglacial periods (10,000-20,000 interglacial, 80,000-90,000 glacial). Without human influence, we would be entering a glacial period once again.

    Attached graph:

X axis is years from present
y-axis is CO2 in PPM (Never got higher than 310 ppm during Pleistocene; CO2 is at 394.5 PPM)

As you can see for the graph, CO2 is higher than it has ever been during the plestocene glaciation (due to emissions) and it is direct result in higher global temperatures and higher ocean acidity.

The second graph shows the change in global temperatures and increase in CO2.

The third graph shows the change in ocean temperature.

The 4th graph shows the reduction in ocean pH as atmospheric CO2 and ocean CO2 has risen.

I am acquiring my degree in oceanography this summer and will be returning to earn a master degree in the near future.

We are no exiting the Pleistocene and entering the anthropocene; hence the term "climate change".

To remain on the subject of corals, I recently read a research article as part of my studies that reported evidence that some corals are incorporating a clade of zooanthelae that are more resistant to rising ocean temperatures. Their research showed that the ability to ingest this specific clade of zooanthelae is population specific and that not all corals would be able to adapt in this manner (essentially Darwin's theory). Their study was conducted with with Acropora millepora, which is relatively sensitive to bleaching events (caused by escalating ocean temperatures). This is a "nugget of hope", as described by the authors.
