Haha I should have known I would be outnumbered on a reefing forum. I will say, I don't believe in global warming. The earths climate has fluctuated massively since the beginning. There is no way of knowing if the extremely gradual rise in temperature is caused by human activity or if it is entirely natural. When you look at the climate over millions of years it doesn't make sense to blame humans for this rise in temperature when there are many throughout the earths history. Who can we blame that on? The dinosaurs?

If you look at a chart showing the earths temperature over the last 100 years, you'll notice a sharp incline starting in the early 1900s, when automobiles and airplanes began to gain in popularity. Coincidence?

using simply a graph of 100 years does not even begin to show a trend. you need to take into account how much the climate fluctuates over hundreds of thousands if not millions of years. im sure it would surprise you just how little in comparison this "global warming" temperature spike is.

it may also surprise you that livestyock (cows, horses, etc.) are accounatable for over 18 percent of greenhouse gases released into the atmosphere. that is more than all the transportation sectors combined (cars, buses, planes, etc.)

Im pretty sure scientists agree that the ice age(the big one) was caused by an astroid, right? So what IS causing the earths temperatures to rise dramatically in the past 100 years? our population has boomed very significantly, we're sucking up our natural recourses like crazy and we're using technologies that put off co2 like no other.

well actually it is the sudden drop in temperature that leads scientists to suspect an asteroid, not the other way around. still there is absolutely no proof of anything of the sort.

like i said if you look at a graph of temperature trends over even thousands of years, it makes this global warming peak everyones freaking out about appear minimal in comparison.

ive got a few links here, they may be a bit biased in their views but all the graphs are 100 percent accurate.

I think its a moot point if global warming is real or fiction. The fact remains, as our population explodes, the actions taken to curb global warming need to happen regardless of its validity. We need to change our pollution/eating/energy habits regardless for our future generations.

Regardless of whether our current actions are resulting in global warming, there's no denying we our a wasteful, self absorbed species that is needlessly harming the earth and its other creatures due to out habits. And that corrective action on our parts should be common sense, just for the sake of future generations and those other critters that we share this world with!

+1. Doesn't matter what causes it(i still hold strong to my belief that its our fault), we need to slow/reverse it.

THIS! i do agree with, although i believe we have no affect on global warming, we still have a major effect on mother nature. and polluting and wasting resources have a very negative effect on nature, we need to reduce it or stop it entirely.
