    Hello all,

Looking to add a hammer and torch coral and candy cane coral in the near future. LFS is pretty pricey. Any other suggestions? LiveAquaria etc...

I would rather go into a store and pick one out if I were you. That way you can physically see which coral is the healthiest to choose and it is only a short drive home in a container rather than a few hours, which increases the chance the coral won't make it. Online, you can always get sent the wrong coral. The coral may be cheaper online but after paying for the coral, shipping and handling and taxes it will be just as expensive or more than just going into the store. IMO there is too much that can go wrong when buying online.

IDK Holly, gonna have to respectfully disagree with ya. I've bought prob 95% of my livestock online and only have had a few losses.

The key to online is buying enough to make the shipping worth it. I'd say most my orders end up being WAY cheaper than an LFS, a few Divers Den of course were not.

Plus there are plenty of WYSIWYG places out there that ship ya exactly what you see online, the key is to know, they are taking those pic's under ideal lighting, so ya have to know how your lights stack up to what they are using.

The best is LA and Divers Den that I've used for sure. Reefs2go, happy coral, and salt critters.com have also been great for me.

For the corals your looking for try the sponsors or google. I love LA/DD but thier coral prices can be kinda high, for the same price you can find some really unique colors or large pieces for same price.

Touche.... Lol. I never said it isn't possible... I just feel safer physically being there to pick out my coral if ya know what I mean. I actually have yet to try ordering online but I never need to purchase a big order to make it worth it. I do agree if you do huge orders then it would be cheaper online, but if it's just one or 2 coral then shipping and handling isn't really worth it. :)

Perfectly put! with the money you would spend on shipping on a small order, you could buy one or two additional corals if you go to a store. Plus being in a store might change your mind and allow you to see a different coral that you hadn't noticed before
