    Hi,

Looking to get some corals for my tank. Where are good places to buy? LFS, liveaquaria? Any other good sites?

    Thanks!

I always go LFS because that way I can see what I get and bring it home within an hour. Less stress than getting them shipped. That's just my personal prefference. There are sites that are "see what you get" BUT they can always screw you by posting a pic of teh apparent coral you will actually get just to send you a half dead one. Or they send you that particular coral that you saw but it gets damaged in shipping or arives dead... I dunno... I like having as much control of transporting my coral and fish as I can... maybe thats because of OCD LOL Either way... I vote LFS.... but there are great sites out there I hear, that rout is just not for me ;P

what type of corals are you looking for? I do most of my corals from the LFS however depending on what I am looking for I will go online and purchase corals from sites.

You have to also factor in shipping costs. If you order online it is usually best to purchase the amount of corals that entitle you to free shipping. Otherwise you can look at adding on 50-60 to an order. Most of the sponser sites on here have free shipping if you spend x amount. I have purchased numerous corals from wet thumb and love their stuff

The other option is look into you local groups. In new jersey there are bound to be reef clubs and they usually do frag swaps...where you can buy locally from other hobbyist.

Frag shows offer great deals. We have one in our area annually.
Plus if you look around you might run into people with 3reef t-shirts like Schackmel & Inwall!!!! haha

if you want cheap small frags that will let you see where your tank is salt critters.com is great and cheap, if you want higher end stuff, Aqua SD, or live aquaria IMO

+1 start cheap (relatively speaking). I love saltcritters.com and you can always find people on Craigslist with hammers for sale. Torch and brains are a lot more rare to find locally.

What part of Jersey are you in? I could probably frag a nice piece of my hammer for you, if you are close to Philly.
