This is my first post because I can't remember my old password, or the email address I used ;)

So my question is, I just aqua-scaped and did A LOT to my tank. I'm going to the LFS tomorrow and would like to know which coral to get, if so. I have a 8 gallon Oceanic Biocube. I really Zoanthids but the last time I tried them they died within a week. I think it was because of my phosphates and plus, it was my first coral of my first saltwater tank. Should I try Zoanthids again? Or just go with some mushrooms. I also have some shady spots, what can go in those?

I would go with the mushrooms. Very hardy and I have had good luck with them being my first coral as well. For the shady spots, there are corals like sun coral, dendros, and duncans that are all non-photosynthetic. But these do require more care as they need to be spot fed.

Thanks for the quick reply [and the first!]. Are mushrooms expensive? Also, are mushroom corals expensive? I think I'll wait to look into the sun coral, dendors and duncans. I'll probably go and get some mushrooms tomorrow.

No, mushrooms are fairly cheap. I got a rock covered with about 10 mushrooms for $30.

Awesome, I got $117 all for fish tomorrow! W0oT! I do have to buy a new light which costs $17 and some Magnesium to keep the GHA down for about $5 or $8, so I get around $90 all for coral, and some livestock for my freshwater. I do need to get a clean-up crew for GHA, I'm thinking a few Mexican Turbo Snails and some Blue-Leg Hermits?
