Hey guys, I was wondering when is the best time to put in my live sand into my tank? My water temp is at 78degrees steady and my salinity is 1.024.
Also when i place my live sand should I mix it with the non live sand that I have in my tank so the other sand? Or should I just layer it on top?

    Thank You

Well first, if you already have sand in the tank, and you have cycled, your sand in the tank is probably already live. How old is your tank? You can add the new sand really at anytime. I prefer to put the rock in first, then add the sand because it will make a more stable rock formation, but it's really up to you.

IMO Live sand is a waste of money. The only benefit I see is you do not need to rinse it.
With LR in your tank it only takes a short time for your sand to become live

If you want to use it then I would put it on top. no mixing.

Agreed. Don't add too much at a time though or you'll smother the organisms and bacteria that are currently residing in your sandbed.
