Wow I'm reading this thread about the cost of starting a 75gal and I'm seeing how little some you have spent to start up your tanks that I feel like I've spent a fortune on my 90 gal. I read many times on this forum go as big as you can, get the best if you can afford it, automate as much as you can it'll cut down on maintenance (not that I'm lazy). So obviously being new to the SW world I took the advice. So UK if you think you've spent a lot I've got you beat and my tank still hasn't seen a fish or coral. I'm not by any means bragging, I'm just embarrassed to see how much others have invested to start their tanks. Lol

Lol you have just made me feel a lot better, it's just that everything over here seems so much more expensive, and yes I've got the livestock to buy as well.

Ive spent about 500 total setting up my 75. I bought the setup used with a nice coralife 48 inch light. It only has damsels and 30 pounds of life rock currently.

    This price was for
    Salt
    Sand
    10 pounds of live rock
    Carbon
    Ph buffer
    Prime
    Hydrometer
    Digital temp
    Heater
    10 pounds live sand
    1 actinic lighy bulb
    2 powerheads
    I believe thats it.

75 gallon reef ready in like new condition with 30 gallon sump with skimmer and custom made stand was 450. I got one hell of a deal.

YOu guys have done a good job setting up your 75's while keeping costs down. my 27 gallon has cost more than most of these 75s.

Not sure yet, plan on buying a house in a year or 2 hopefully but will be in the same area so the move wont be more than 20 minutes. When the time comes I have no clue what to do since my scape is basically three very large rocks and 2 large branchrock pieces that will by that time be covered in different corals.

Gotcha- I have a bunch of pointers, but I'll shoot them to you via PM or you can set up a new tank moving thread. That way this thread stays clean as a "cost of set-up thread"
