    i direct fed mine, with marine snow, and many of the polyps retracted. is this normal? looks like a lawn mower cut a row through the grass.

    I never directly feed mine. Closed polyps are an indication of irritation. Kind of a defense mechanism.

    Thanks for the info. I thought it would be an easy one. Mine is under 2x175MH fixing to upgrade to 2x250MH and 2x54 actinic. Mine is about 8"x9" or so. I got it for $35. My local LFS is about 50 miles away.
