OK! so thiss morning my tank was 82, I had to leave for awhile and turned on the AC and had a fan also blowing on the tank, when I got home the tank was 74, the coldest its ever been, my heater has been off for almost 2 months now. Anyways! my skimmer was acting normal when I left, but when I got home it was skimming wet skim like crazy, put about 2 gallons of water on my floor. my conclusion was the temp difference in the tank from 82 to 74 caused the skimmer to act crazy, no other reason really for it to do that. didn't add anything, didn't feed the fish, so my thought is it had to be the colder water temp, what are your thoughts on this, can drastic temp change also change the function of the skimmer?

I would guess that you may have had a spawning event due stress created from the rapid decrease in temperature. Bi-valves like clams are especially known for this. It the animals way to insure survival in the event of a life ending event.

ohhh!! crazy man, I noticed my water was slightly cloudy, but I thought it was because the skimmate in the skimmer flowed back in to the tank with the accident.
